Lisette Tellez Bio

Lisette is a Managing Director at Ocean Azul Partners, a venture capital firm investing in early-stage B2B software and deep tech companies. Ocean Azul uses a Select & Partner model to invest in a select number of companies, allowing them to commit their time, networks, and operating experience to impact the trajectories of their portfolio companies. Ocean Azul was founded in 2017 and is raising its third fund. Lisette serves as a Board member or observer for several of Ocean Azul’s portfolio companies. One of Lisette’s motivations for joining the venture capital industry was to inspire other women and Latinos to pursue VC careers.

Lisette is also a Board member of SomosVC, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that aims to increase the representation of Latino/a professionals in venture capital, help Latino/a venture investors build their careers and networks, and improve access to capital for Latino/a-led venture firms.

Before Ocean Azul, Lisette was a Managing Partner at Dorm Room Fund, a student-run venture capital firm that has invested in over 350 startups that have gone on to raise $4B+. Her passion for technology and health led her to study Computer Science & Engineering at MIT and become a Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach.
